Sous Chef is a remote MCP server for recipes. When ChatGPT, Claude, or Cursor gives you a recipe, Sous Chef shows it as a cooking card you can follow step by step, change with validated edits and Undo, and save to your private library only when you choose.

Remote MCP over streamable HTTP, with OAuth sign-in through Auth0. Showing and editing a recipe works without an account; saving, opening, sharing, and deleting recipes asks you to sign in to Sous Chef.
What it does
Complete recipes
A recipe generated in conversation opens with ingredients, instructions, timing, and servings. Viewing a recipe does not save it.
Cook in the chat
Step through the method, check ingredients as you prep, and keep your place without leaving the chat. Durations stay as text; timers with Live Activities are in the iPhone app.
Save only what you want
Save is an explicit tap. It keeps the structured recipe in your private Sous Chef account, ready to open, cook, or remove in a later conversation or in the iPhone app.
Edit, then undo
Ask for a change and Sous Chef validates it before applying it to the working recipe. Changed lines are marked, and one Undo restores the previous turn while the saved original stays intact.
Tools
Eleven tools. The assistant's own model does the cooking reasoning; Sous Chef validates every edit against the recipe's structure, so an edit that points at a missing ingredient or step is rejected instead of half-applied.

Connect Sous Chef
Every client uses the same connector URL. Displaying a recipe never saves it; Save remains a separate library-write step.
Claude
- Open Customize, then Connectors.
- Click + Add, choose Add custom connector, and paste the connector URL.
- Ask Claude for a recipe to display and cook; sign in only when you save.
- Save it explicitly, or open and manage recipes already in your library.
Claude's Free plan allows one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise, an owner adds it in Organization settings first. Claude's guide
ChatGPT
- Open the Plugins page in ChatGPT.
- Select the plus button, then Add custom MCP server.
- Paste the connector URL, set up sign-in, and create it as a plugin.
- Ask for a recipe; use Save only when you want to keep it.

Cursor

Clone the sous-chef-mcp
package into
~/.cursor/plugins/local/sous-chef. - Restart Cursor or reload the window.
- Complete the Auth0 sign-in when Cursor asks.
- Ask Cursor to display a recipe; use Save only when you want to keep it.
A Cursor Marketplace listing is in review. If your host can't render the recipe card, the tool's text result still contains the recipe.
Other MCP clients that support remote servers can add the same URL as a streamable HTTP server and sign in when prompted.
What it costs
Adding the connector is free, and showing, editing, and undoing recipes in the chat doesn't need an account. Saved recipes go to the same library as the Sous Chef iPhone app, where a free account keeps 10 recipes and Sous Chef Pro, $5.99 a month or $49.99 a year on the App Store, removes the limit.
A quick privacy note
Your chat stays with ChatGPT, Claude, or Cursor. Sous Chef receives only what their model sends to its tools to work on your recipe. Saved MCP App recipes are private to your signed-in account until you ask to share one. Read the full privacy policy.
